Venus Hum
Big Beautiful Sky (MCA Records)

By: Alex Steininger

With their MCA debut, and debut full-length, Nashville's Venus Hum delivers Big Beautiful Sky. Fusing 80's snyth pop with electronica-dance, the band creates a lush, infectious, and harmonious recording, graceful and stylish, leading you towards the light at the end of the tunnel while you look beyond and wonder what else is out there for you to bask it. It is an uplifting, positive record of magnificent beauty, a record that grabs you with its sharp production, and keeps you held close with its vibrancy and liveliness. Yes, Venus Hum is poised to score a record hit, their songs structured for mass appeal, while still retaining that person-to-person vibe void in so many of today's recordings. I'll give this an A-.
