 On their second full-length, The Complex, Experimental musical theatre troupe the Blue Man Group deliver a 'commercial' sounding record, mixing regular instruments (six string electric guitar), with their own creations. With guest appearances by Dave Matthews, Tracy Bonham, and Venus Hum, singing actual words over the otherwise instrumental compositions (both originals and covers), The Complex delivers an interesting, intensely satisfying collection of post-modernism rock, electronica-esque grooves, and an industrial feel. The songs are sleek and shiny, the production value top notch, however Blue Man Group's own quirks and charms keep the songs from becoming too mainstream or watered down. I'll give it a B+.
