Justin Trevino
The Scene of the Crying (Lone Star Records)

By: Mark. A Lawrence the IV

There are people unsatisfied with the time period they live in, who yearn for things to be the way they were. I'd consider myself one of these throwbacks with my love of vinyl records, and you can only guess from the music of Justin Trevino's The Scene of the Crying, he must yearn for the honkytonks of old. This album of beautiful heartache is pure old fashion country music. Having collected some of the best of Texas music, the kind filled with the sounds of open spaces and starry nights, to fill out this album. Trevino takes these songs, Like "Two Empty Glasses" and "You'll Never Get a Better Chance" and adds the beautiful warmth of his voice. Layer that on top of a musical canvas that includes a wonderful walking bass line provided by Trevino himself, and the crying pedal steel of Dick Overbey and you have Music that sit in your chest for days. This sincere collection of songs is setting to reclaim traditional country music for the modern age. I truly hope he dose.
