VARIOUS ARTISTS: Shout! The Revolutionary Rave-Up Alive 1997-2003 (Kemado Records/Palm) By: Alex Steininger
A compilation paying tribute to Shout!, a weekly party at Bar 13 in New York, which occurs every Sunday night at 10pm, and has no cover, ran by DJs Steve Pestana and Pedro Mena, Shout! The Revolutionary Rave-Up Alive 1997-2003 features bands that have played Shout! From Vue, The Greenhornes, Holmes, and Knoxville Girls, through The Hiss, Calla, and Elefant, the varying shades of rock, indie rock, and garage come alive, as each band makes you sweat, dance, and sweat some more. Also includes tracks from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Warlocks, the atmosphere is hot, the rock music even hotter, and the party never ending. With choice cuts like this (this compilation features demos, outtakes, and unreleased material), and filled with great bands, its no wonder why Shout! is such a magical night, a night of magic that happens each week. I'll give this a B+.
