Emery
The Weak's End (Tooth and Nail)

By: Mike SOS

Emery is an emo band, but don't hold that against them yet. The six men that comprise Emery hail from South Carolina, and the results of the outfit's debut 10-track release display sounds that rock radio is growing ever so friendly with. Armed with a three-guitar and vocal attack, there's a lot of firepower up front in Emery, yet the music behind the six string sting is anchored just as sturdily, as the bass and drums lay down some hearty beats while the keyboards add a depth that most emo bands could use these days. Emery can really get down and dirty, such as in the dissonant beginnings of "Disguising Mistakes With Goodbyes", yet melody always seems to overcome the band's screamo side, making THE WEAK'S END a nice juxtaposition between Thursday and The Used.
