Abbie Huxley
Pop [R.E.D.] (Self-released)

By: Alex Steininger

Abbie Huxley's Pop [R.E.D.] trades in delicate, soothing pop textures and a slow to mid-tempo delivery, calling upon folk, soul, Americana, and even Beatles influences to carry it off. Lacking the soaring hooks to shine as a strong pop songwriter, Huxley seems content writing mid-level pop, focusing on the mood instead, creating a late-night, coffee-drinking, play-in-the-background-and-chat record that fills the air with gentle sounds. And, occasionally makes you turn your head and go, "Wow, he's got a strong voice and some good lyrics". I'll give it a B-.
