The Finger
We Are Fuck You/Punk's Dead Let's Fuck (One Little Indian)

By: Cam Lindsay

The anonymity behind The Finger is a silly ploy that fails to be as riveting as the sibling fib told by The White Stripes. Led by Ryan Adams and Jesse Malin, We Are Fuck You/Punk's Dead Let's Fuck is a compilation of the band's two limited edition EPs that fails to hold anything back. Anyone who considers themselves a fan of Adams' work may be a little surprised at the intensity and brash substance captured by The Finger. More inclined with Malin's old band D-Generation if anything, this record gives Adams a chance to relive the excitement he felt when contributing to the Black Flag tribute album not to long ago (check the artwork for confirmation). With the scuzzy riffs, a resentment towards any type of seriousness and an adoration for raw power, The Finger push a mean product. However, like some of Adams' other questionable work of late, this record suffers from sloppy impulsiveness, leaving results that make it sound like nothing more than an unfunny joke.
