Swarm of the Lotus
When White Becomes Black (At A Loss)

By: Mike SOS

Swarm of the Lotus are not an easy listen, but if you really take a chance to listen to the cacophony that this Maryland-based quartet create, you can come away quite impressed. Songs like "Seeing Truth" are ugly, dissonant, sonic walls of aggression whose unbalanced, uncompromising tones sound like a cross between Soundgarden, Will Haven, and Mastodon. How's that for heavy? The sinewy guitars and jagged rhythms mix death metal's breakneck speed with hardcore's penchant for violence, making Swarm of the Lotus dangerous yet ultimately satisfying.
