Gamma Ray
Skeletons in the Closet (Sanctuary Records)

By: Mike SOS

German metal outfit Gamma Ray have been around over 15 years, and the band's brand of power metal may have taken some knocks along the way, but it tenaciously finds a way back into the hearts of the metal fans. Such is the reason for Skeletons in the Closet, a twin-disc live offering from the boys that digs deep into the group's archives and pulls out some of the more undistinguished tracks that its fans have requested through the years. Recorded in Spain and Germany, the 18-track venture showcases Gamma Ray's ability to crank out the metal riffs, heavy rhythms, and anthemic rockers that has made them a stalwart of the power metal scene. With the band's supercharged live performance showing no signs of slowing down, Skeletons in the Closet stands as a triumphant display of a band that is in tune with its fans and actually gives the people what they want. How's that for a concept? Way cool.
