The Vestals
The Vestals (Warming House Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Playing pop music with a bang, The Vestals' self-titled record embraces both power-pop and pop-rock, delivering a record that can rock when it needs to, or soak up the melody and allow you to chew on it for a bit, too, if the song calls for it. Throughout the ten tracks on this album, The Vestals keep things moving, whether they're writing a slower, more thought provoking song ("Childhood Timeouts") or a faster, bouncier, rock song ("Another Way To Kill Me"). And even when they do the latter, they still make it bubbly and sweet, always giving the melodies room to breath and roam, and when they do that, they never lose. I'll give this a B.
