Dalek
The Low Lows (Ipecac Recordings)

By: Alex Steininger

Dark, ethereal-rock-meets-noise-infused rap with a hand on the experimental side of things, Dalek pulls no punches on Absence, a frightening, eye-opening experience of an album. The type of record that will scare you into submission, and has no problem (or trouble) doing so. With tension-building beats and noisy instrumentation, the album grabs you by the balls and won't let go, gripping harder and harder as you sweat every minute of it. The same intensity and prowess as the backdrop comes the rhymes, and from there you are a slave to the sounds. Dalek takes control and never lets you go. I'll give it an A.
