The Boils
World Poison (Thorp Records)

By: Jeb Branin

This CD is a re-release of THE BOILS first (?) album from 1999. It contains all the oldschool glory that is the trademark of this Philly trio. I don't care if it is the early 80s or the late 90s or the early Y2Ks, this breed of fist pumping, pit swirling, gang chorusing, lip splitting, ass blistering hardcore still rocks my world. If you are over 30 chances are this is exactly the kind of music that first got you into hardcore in the first place. One of the things I like best about THE BOILS is that they borrow equally from '79 UK punk, '82 DC harDCore, '85 NYHC, any era OI! and yet they STILL manage to forge a distinct Philly groove that does the city that booed Santa Clause proud!
