Country Club & The Porn Horns
The Stationwagon Revolution (self-released)

By: Alex Steininger

Except for Wexler's voice mail excepts, which are annoying and take away, instead of adding to the music (though, the first few times through they are a bit amusing), Country Club & The Porn Horns'The Stationwagon Revolution is a unique, interesting (to say the least) album. Blending rock, swing, Latin grooves, rockabilly, pop, and even some punk into a melting pot record, Country Club & The Porn Horns make a fucked-up sound that is hard to classify and undeniably there. And though it may be hard to swallow, and sound like trash if you don't give it the time, the record is one of those where if you actually give it a few chances, you start to learn some of the humor and weirdness behind it. And embrace it more because of it. It's an outsider record, but a good outsider you want to bring inside at times. I'll give it a C.
