Fey Ray
I Wanna Be New & Perfect (Blue Disguise/a>)

By:
Alex Steininger

Fey Ray's I Wanna Be New & Perfect brings classic rock to the world of indie-rock, embedding it (and oft-times burying it) into their pop-infused, shoegazer sound that finds them both rocking out, delivering noise for you to feed off of, and slower, more methodical melodies to bathe in. And they trade off between these two sides so well, coming forth with a song that is seemingly gentle and light, as it builds and builds and turns into a full-on rock song, leaving you wondering where the rock came from. But it is a joyous entrance, one you welcome with open arms, and continue to embrace, as they switch back and forth between the two, much to your delight. Here is a band with many facets to them; and whereas other bands would get lost and deliver something non-cohesive, Fey Ray blend and trade-off so naturally, ensuring this sound is truly their own. I'll give it a B.
