The Forty-Fives
High Life High Volume (Yep Roc)

By: Alex Steininger

High Life High Volume is right, as The Forty-Fives deliver a spellbinding, hip-shaking, drag-your-ass-onto-the-floor blast of rock 'n' roll as it is meant to be played. Some may call it retro-rock re-vamped and updated, though those who know will know better. This is completely modern and fresh; calling upon the ghosts of Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, and other rock 'n 'roll legends to influence and guide. But from there it is purely The Forty-Fives making you shake, rattle, and roll with this highly engaging, melodically compelling, horn-laden style of rock. Their amps are turned up, their guitars are buzzing, and the rhythm section is bringing the party. You're singing along, dancing uncontrollably, and having the time of your life. That's rock 'n' roll. That's The Forty-Fives' and their latest, High Life High Volume. I'll give it an A.
