Kennedy
Pink Afros (Sea Level Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Danceable, melodic, white-boy soul indie-pop, Kennedy's latest, the Pink Afros EP, is layers and layers of instrumentation, creating a majestic, if not sometimes overwhelming experience of pop. Incorporating an element of space-rock into the mix, Kennedy is able to further explore the shoegazer side of the, creating a drawn out, not-always-hooky, but instead atmospheric ride that will, at least at first, leave you feeling deprived and left out. But, the album also offers up more straight-ahead, instantly pleasing moments, keeping you focused on the record. All in all, its a good, decent ride and one that deserves a listen or two. I'll give it a B-.
