Charlotte Hatherley Grey Will Fade (Double Dragon Music) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
Ash's guitarist Charlotte Hatherley, during some downtime from Ash, recorded her debut solo album, Grey Will Fade. Released only in Europe, and only available in the U.S. as an import, it's a shame because Grey Will Fade isn't too far from Ash, and Ash fans will instantly like the guitar-laden pop sound. Though, where Ash rocks out, Hatherley keeps her solo album melodic and poppy, playing more to the power-pop side of things than the hard rock that Ash sometimes dwells in. What Grey Will Fade does a great job of is establishing Hatherley as a songwriter on her own right, able of crafting good modern rock/guitar-pop that would make fans of Letters To Cleo instantly latch on. Yes, it's poppy, rocking, and sweet. Hatherley creates solid melodic guitar rock. I'll give it an A-.
