Dead Fucking Last
Grateful... (Epitaph Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Dead Fucking Last, the name says it all! These guys did the weirdest thing I have ever seen. They put 19 songs on one album? No, that isn't that uncommon! They weird thing was that they only put one track on the CD, so you must either fast forward to get to that song you like, or sit through them all! At first I thought it was pretty original, but soon after the idea grew annoying. Dead Fucking Last isn't that bad of punk band. It's more like lo-fi garage punk rock! There isn't much melody, there isn't a bunch of hooks and such to drag you into the music. But there is a bunch of noise, and sometimes a good song comes out of the noise. But the fact that there are 19 songs on the album (which would be nice for any other band...), but the fact that there is only 1 track gets old after awhile! I'm sure it will turn a lot of people away! It did for me! And besides, the music isn't that original or powerful to back up this creative idea of one track.

DFL needs to concentrate more on their music, and less on just having fun! Having fun is great, but it seems that they are the only people having fun on their album! Maybe it is all a big joke to them? Who knows! With a lot more focus, and more practice these guys could actually make something of the album, as long as their next album has more than one track! The best I can give this album is a D. It just didn't appeal to me. If you like DFL please e-mail me and tell me what it is about them that appeals to you!
