Majority Rule & Positive State
split 7" (Submit Records /803 Thayer Avenue/Silver Springs, MD 20910)

By: Emmanuel Goldstein

Positive State sounds like a good example of elevator music in an insane asylum. The rhythmic bumps and notes from the guitar just keep going while the grainy vocals are yelled and screamed, yet the two don't coincide at all. The lyrics for "The Intelligent Kill Themselves" are some of the best I've heard, talking about people always blaming everyone and everything else for their problems. Majority Rule plays a lot harder and the vocals are somewhat cleaner. They play faster and their lyrics take an aggressive approach against racists. Their last track is a bouncy little 'hey-hey' kinda song. Rough but sweet. This 7" is highly recommended.
