Stratford Mercenaries "Live in the U.S.A. 1997" 7" (Stratford Mercenaries/79 Ham Pk. Road/London E15 4AD UK) By: Emmanuel Goldstein
![](/images/sep.gif) This is a 7" of 4 live songs from the Stratford Mercenaries (composed of Steve Crass, Gary DIRT, Ed Suicidal Supermarket Trolleys, and Phil Buzzcocks) on their tour through the U.S. in early 1997. I can easily hear the DIRT sound, being that Gary plays guitar for Stratford. The music definitely has that old distorted guitar tinge to it. The music having a variety of chords in each song rather then the same sound throughout the songs. The lyrics have a message of resistance and anti-sexism. The sound is not really reminiscent of any of the members' older bands, but instead is trying to achieve a new sound. I'd definitely prefer that than trying to copy the past.
