If you're familiar with any of Spahn Ranch's previous releases, Architecture may come as a bit of a surprise. A definite departure from their prior hard-edged, often guitar-driven industrial sound, Architecture finds the guys treading towards techno and electronica. With Athan's deep, almost whispered vocals up front, Spahn Ranch move through various aspects of the techno/electronica genre (drum and bass, haunting ballads, straight-ahead Depeche Mode-like synth pop ...) attacking each and every one with great success. Hopefully fans of the band's prior releases won't be too quick to judge, because if given a chance, Architecture is their best release so far and shows a band with limitless boundaries.
