Seven Hearts
Mots De Faux C*urs (Jungle Crystal Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Following up an impressive 7", SEVEN HEARTS unleashes what I believe to be their first full length release. Unfortunately, trying to describe their remarkably unique sound is much more difficult than enjoying it. Meaning my job would be a lot easier if you would just buy the CD and take a listen for yourself. You would hear a band who has taken the essence of many different styles of music and not so much blended them, as crammed them, together. In the very early days of punk rock there were bands who tried to do things somewhat similar to this and met with varying degrees of success. There are elements of rockabilly, fusion jazz, noise and country all present but none really dominates and consequently none becomes the defining aspect of the music. If you like music that is thick, complexly textured and very intense then this is worth tracking down.
