Los Infernos
Rock And Roll Nightmare (Alternative Tentacles)

By: Jeb Branin

I was terribly disappointed in this CD... my fault for believing the hype, I suppose. LOS INFERNOS was billed as a band taping into the new breed hard rawk of the SUPERSUCKERS or BACKYARD BABIES and I suppose they are but they are missing the absolute most important ingredient in their sound... passion. There is no fire here. No anger. No snotty attitude. No middle-finger-in-the-air indignation. LOS INFERNOS sound flat out tame or even just flat. Maybe it is a "too polished" production problem, maybe they are just trying to make their sound more palatable for the masses. Who knows? Who cares? They have all the right parts but they haven't put them together into working order. Whereas SUPERSUCKERS sound whiskey drenched, LOS INFERNOS sound kool-aid soggy. Maybe they need to melt down some Jeff Dahl CDs and inject them intravenously. Saying LOS INFERNOS is in the same vein as SUPERSUCKERS is true... but only as true as saying POISON was in the same vein as AC/DC.
