Unholy Grave / Capitalist Casualties
Racism Split 7" (Def American)

By: Jeb Branin

I don't care how prolific they continue to be, I don't think I will ever tire of getting new material from CAPITALIST CASUALTIES. These power violence godfathers just keep turning up the heat year after year after year... In direct contrast to most bands, C.C. are not mellowing with age. They aren't using their sound to "explore new ideas" and they sure as hell aren't "maturing" or "evolving" unless, of course, you consider it evolution to get more intense, more blistering and more furious than ever! I certainly don't mean to imply they are getting stale, either. Their song writing continues to improve and woven deep inside the frenzy and wrath of the music there are more textures than in the past. I wouldn't go so far as to call it "melody" but it sure qualifies as catchy. UNHOLY GRAVE are a perfect band for C.C. share a split with. Instead of the precision slicing and dicing of C.C.'s brand of thrash, UNHOLY GRAVE rip and shred with abandon. They have a violent grind influence interlaced with a classic Japanese fastcore sound. They are chaotic and contorted, with very raw production that might dull the impact off a less vehement band but enhances U.G.
