Hot Rod Circuit
Sorry About Tomorrow (Vagrant Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Hot Rod Circuit's latest, Sorry About Tomorrow, is the natural progression from 2000's If I Knew Now What I Knew Then and 2001's If It's Cool With You, It's Cool With Me. Toning down the emo and focusing on more melodic punk rock, the band captures a musically tight, lyrically strong collection of powerful songs that use loud guitars to keep you rocking, and melodic hooks to reel you into the stories that they weave throughout. Crashing drums and plenty of bass to thicken everything up helps push the songs to the extreme side of pop, while the clean cut, but slightly gruff vocals gives it the perfect punk rock spin. This may be melodic, but it is pure, non-stop rock from start to finish. I'll give it a B+.
