 Tired pop-punk that tries too hard, Home Grown, a once dominate pop-punk-ska band that could turn out clever, witty, self-deprecating anthems for the losers and self-defeated kids of the world, have resorted to a tired, over-produced pop-punk sound on Kings of Pop.Void of the humor, carefree attitude, and craziness that made them a hit in the underground, Kings of Pop tries to disguise the lack of the aforementioned by stating that this is a mature, grown up album. However, in the process the band gave up their voice, allowing the style to shape them, rather than the other way around, and the outcome is a tasteless, bland record that, even when the hooks are trying to beat you over the head, falls flat on its face. I'll give it a C-.
