Pele
Enemies (Polyvinyl Records)

By: Alex Steininger

Pele's brand of hypnotic, dissonant indie rock goes from loud and full to soft and minimal, as they take you through a whirlwind of bouncy, boppin', crashing, and meditative rock maneuvers. The lack of vocals hurts the songs, at times leaving them without direction or focus. The band's abilities and musical challenges make up the difference, though, helping to streamline the score and make this record effect in its goal to provide a solid soundtrack to play in the background while you go about your day. I'll give it a C+.
