Thalia Zedek You're A Big Girl Now (Kimchee Records) By: Alex Steininger

Borrowing her title from the Bob Dylan song of the same name (You're A Big Girl Now), she also covers it, giving Dylan's version an indie-pop twist. With over two decades of music making under her belt, in bands such as Dangerous Birds, Uzi, Live Skull, and Come, Zedek comes across like a veteran, able to turn otherwise middle-of-the-road indie-pop into something dark, something slightly off-key, and altogether beautiful. From her version of the Velvet Underground's "Candy Says" to her four originals, Zedek writes weepy, slumbering, and late-night conversation music with ease. A hard task to attempt, an even harder task to pull off with both emotional and charisma. I'll give it a B.
