Warren Zanes Memory Girls (Dualtone) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
Well-written, heavy-on-the-pop pop-rock, Warren Zanes' Memory Girls approaches things with a slight roots-y feel, burying it in the mix, preferring to showcase his pop smarts, without overshadowing the rock upbringing that seems to fuel his songwriting. Memory Girls is smart lyrically, a quick selling point as Zanes' melodies reel you in and his lyrics keep you listening, if not singing along. Recently touring with The Wallflowers, Zanes' brand of pop-rock is not unlike theirs, equally beautiful and full of feeling. I'll give it a B+.
