Bathtub Shitter
One Fun 7" & 97+3 Shit Points 7" (Bathtub Shitter)

By: Jeb Branin

Another brace of 7" eps from the band most likely to be Grammy nominated for "Band most in need of a moniker change." Their name aside, BT prove once again that they have tamed this beast known as grindcore. BT combine bloodthirsty low-tuned mayhem with unstoppable speed and a heavy dose of Japanese speedcore. Although there isn't a track on either of these eps to rival the masterful tune "Mark A Muck" (from the 7" of the same name), I think these are still my favorite BT records yet. On these two records, more so than on others I've heard from the band, there is a more distinct hardcore influence complimenting and underscoring the band's trademark grind. I've heard BT referred to as "Japan's AGATHOCOLES," but for my money BT are far superior in every way. For those wondering "97+3" is indeed a re-release of the 2000 record, although I believe the +3 tunes are different. And, yes, I assume it is a respectful nod to the infamous "Machine Parts + 4" 7" by that "other" BT, BRUTAL TRUTH.
