Rusty Santos Outside Versus In (self-released) By: Alex Steininger
Quickly following up the release of his debut CD, Bad Is Good, with Outside Versus In, New York's left field singer-songwriter Rusty Santos delves deeper into the experimental, fusing electronica, pop, and chaos to come up with his concoction. A singer-songwriter by default, Santos' songs would be hard to characterize as singer-songwriter, and anyone expecting a guy on a guitar musing about his life would surely be disappointed. Santos defies description on his way to crafting the bizarre. Outside Versus In is anything but ordinary, reveling in the fact that it truly may be something different. Outside Versus In is anti-pop, anti-folk for the person craving outer space sounds with an outcast's lyrics at the core. I'll give it a B-.
