Jackson Jackson (Magnificent Records) By: Alex Steininger

Former No Use For A Name guitarist, and current Me First and the Gimme Gimmes/Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett debuts as a front man for a project, Jackson (his long-standing nickname), on his own Magnificent Records. Five songs of pure guitar-driven rock laden with melody, Jackson calls upon all his influences and outfits, culls them together, and releases the sounds with one big bang, Jackson's self-titled debut EP. From the guitar rock of "All The Way" through the bouncy, sing-along chorus of "Fell Into", with its ultra-catchy guitar riff that echoes throughout the song, Shiflett proves that not only is he a wonderful sideman, but quite the front man/songwriter as well. Jackson's got a bright future and this EP is not to be missed. I'll give it an A.
