Bobby Bare Jr's Young Criminals' Starvation League
"OK - I'm Sorry..." EP (Bloodshot Records)

By: Mark A. Lawrence the IV

With this 8 song EP, Bobby Bare Jr's Young Criminals' Starvation League, has done it again, creating a must have CD, that not only captures some of the great highlights of Bare and his league's live show but expands the catalog of their material with previously unreleased material like "Mother Ucker" and the musical translation of Shel Silverstein's poem "True Story"; both of which did not make it on the 2002 full length. This EP is a fresh mix of live tracks and other oddities that makes OK - I'm Sorry the perfect morsel to act as an introduction to the greatness that is Bobby Bare Jr., or to tie the rest of us over as we wait hungrily for his next full-length album. The live tracks successfully capture on CD the excitable energy of Bare in concert, which due to advances in technology, you can witness with the bonus of crisp video footage of both "I'll Be Around", and "Valentine" captured at the Abby Pub in Chicago earlier this year. The only problem I have with this CD is the decision to include two versions of "I'll Be Around" but this is even forgivable with all of the things they did do right with this CD. Rating: A
