Shoeshine Blue Sometimes Through the Static (Corn Whiskey Records) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif) Lo-fi, indie folk from a burgeoning label building their reputation on quality singer-songwriters, Corn Whiskey Records' Shoeshine Blue's Sometimes Through the Static, a six-song EP, delivers the goods -- and more. It is a well-thought, well-written record built around the acoustic guitar, sparse instrumentation supplementing the guitar, and Shoeshine Blue's back porch vocals. With blues and country influences paying a visit, Sometimes Through the Static is also well rounded. I'll give it a B-.
