KUBiX
Construct (Statue Records)

By: DJ Kreepy Krawly

CONSTRUCT is the 2004 debut release set for February 2nd. This CD contains eleven tracks all together five of them are exclusive to this album only. KUBiX is a Colorado-based band consisting of Trevor (vocals, keyboards, programming), and Susan (keyboards, visual effects), dedicating their efforts to the more electronic element of industrial music.

"Construct" portrays a more upbeat, danceable side of the electronic element of industrial music without losing creativity shown with layered sampling and keyboard work. This album paints a picture of a great cylon empire with its array of song styles varying from the more up beat dance track "Trip", to its dark instrumental, near-melodic piece "Halcyon", to the heavy-hitting industrial "Do It Again". This work shows a great start for this band and is a band to watch in the future.

Recommend for fans of Cabaret Voltaire for its stylized programming, or for fans of Skinny Puppy for the harder industrial sound. Also for those who appreciate synth-generated music as heard in Psi Vamp.

RANKING: 3 out of a possible 5
