Defy False Authority
Defy False Authority (Six Week Records)

By: Jeb Branin

Y'know how sometimes a band's name just seems to capture some vital essence of punk rock (like DEAD KENNEDYS, CAPITALIST CASUALTIES, VERBAL ASSAULT, etc), well how about DEFY FALSE AUTHORITY? Not too shabby. Hailing from Canada, these four lads have instantly catapulted themselves to the pinnacle of the extreme hardcore scene. In fact, they thrash with such a rabid intensity that I'm surprised the friction created by the vibration of their amps doesn't generate enough heat to turn most of their oft-frigid homeland into a tropical paradise. They are pretty pissed off, as well. Borrowing a page or two (okay a chapter or two) from the classic hatecore scene of the early 80s (ala NEGATIVE APPROACH and NEGATIVE FX), DFA have managed to create a disc that spits pure venom and will definitely endear itself to fans of bands like STRONG INTENTION and LAST IN LINE.
