The Sleepy Jackson Lovers (Astralwerks) By: Alex Steininger
Lovers crosses the line between glorious and subtle, subdued from all out, creating one of 2003's most generous pop albums that also wasn't just pop. Incorporating influences of country (if ever so slightly) into the filling album, the band manages to diversify without straying too far, sticking to what they're great at (soaring hooks and lush melodies) and still stretching their mighty wings. Lovers is the type of long-lasting, crowd pleasing record that gets great responses on first listen, but soon grows to be on of your favorite records in your collection. I'll give it an A-.
