Love Beach (Surprise Truck Enterprises)

 Love Beach, by Kill Henry Sugar, is a feathery, cool breeze of folk- and roots-rock. That doesn't mean it doesn't have its moments, or an edge, as it does, displaying their gritty side on numbers like "Cold Was the Ground", a blues-tingled, Mississippi-bound rocker. Though, the majority of the album is more reflective of tracks such as the delicate, laid-back subtle number "Sneakers Hanging from a Power Line". Or the shuffle of "Sympathy for a Sorry Ass", a mid-tempo, softer, but still soaked with whiskey-rock number that seems to find each note bleeding into the other until the chorus comes, the song is announced, and your focused once again on the song. If you like your rock music a bit more challenging, with blues and roots influences, and distinction a blurry line that adds to the element of surprise, you'll enjoy Love Beach. I'll give it a C-.
