 Southern rock outfit The Steepwater Band delivers a guitar-heavy, no-bullshit sound that is loud and rocking, but melodic and strong enough to dance too. Whether you're wanting something with muscle and juice, or you want something you and your sweetie can dance too, dharmakaya is a fitting match, the kind of record that knows a good time when it seems it, and works well within those boundaries. Whether it's the scorching guitar, the ample rhythm section, or just the overall Southern sound, this is rock 'n' roll raised on Skynard and The Black Crowes, and now making its own version of how it hears those sounds. I'll give it a B-.
