Carrier Carrier (Hideaway Records) By: Alex Steininger
A rock band at the core, Carrier's self-titled full-length has its moments of reflective-ness, from the pop infused, late-night head scratching of "The Disconnected" to the rich soundscapes of "The Colors in the Sky". However, most of the time, they're a rock band, trading off between fuzzy guitars atop sparkling melodies that rest comfortably underneath the rock ("November Was Hard To Find" and "On the Lake") and mid-tempo, space-laced indie rock ("Both Of You"). Their self-titled album is as rich as it is sweet, a delicate, delectable record that loves indie-rock as much as it does adult contemporary pop, and tries to walk a fine, very fine line between the two, all the while incorporating other sound variations, such as space-rock, into the equation. I'll give it a B.
