Searching For A Melody (Megalith Records)

By: Richard Vardaro

Originally released for Stubborn Records in 2002, this album made its way over to Megalith for a re-release in 2003. This is a refreshing traditional, and soulful debut for Westbound Train, whose members hail from Boston and New Jersey. While most of the songs are romantic and relationship based, lead singer and trombonist, Obi Fernandez lays it down with a groovy, laid-back voice that emotes his feelings exceptionally. The first song on the album, "Salvation", is fantastic and the bonus track with King Django absolutely enhances this album. This is a good traditional ska album and a great purchase if this is what you prefer.
