Matthew Bayot Circling Buzzards (Fire Records) By: Alex Steininger
![](/images/sep.gif)
Harnessing a love of Middle Eastern folk, indie-pop, and psychedelic rock, Matthew Bayot has come up with his own unique sound on Circling Buzzards. A soothing, meditative that balances the three above-mentioned sounds nicely into a cohesive, interesting, and even odd-at-times mix of danceable, even rocking numbers that will at first find you confused and then find you praising Bayot for his concoction. This is inventive Middle Eastern folk-rock that makes you feel like you're on acid. I'll give it an A-.
