The Crabs
Brainwashed (K Records)

By: Alex Steininger

The Crabs are an amazing two piece! Lisa and John form this pop-rock twosome. It always amazes me when one or two people have so much talent, they can start a band with the very minimum amount of people!

Track one, "Promise Land," starts off with some heavy guitar. A very catchy tune with some very catchy lines "one thing he doesn't understand you can't get to the promise land alone." Next is the "Sad Song." Here the Crabs do one thing I hate, switch off lead vocals. From John on track one, now Lisa is doing the vocal duties. But in this case, I will let it slide. They are just amazing. I love this group. A talented two-piece that can also write great lyrics, "I sit in my room all day and think about how you just walked away." A very mellow song, but it's a sad song. Just an electric guitar and Lisa singing. A Great combo. Next is the title track. An upbeat tempo, with catchy hooks and lines. When the chorus hits, there's no running for the exit signs. Three tracks pass, before we come to my personal favorite, "Meltdown." It starts off soft, talking about love, and then it gets fast with hooks, and just grabs you by the ears and pulls you towards your CD player.

The Crabs are the kind of band everyone should love. Two people making the music they love. Where do you go wrong on that path? You can't. This is definitely a CD to check out! This CD is full of hooks that will grab you, and catchy lyrics (that have a point behind them) that you will find your singing as you walk down the street. This CD is a keeper. A definite A for this CD.
