Alice In Chains Unplugged (Columbia Records) By: [email protected]
Having not toured, let alone given a show in the past 3 years, with the help of MTV, Alice In Chains releases their sixth album, Unplugged. On their latest recording, A.I.C has executed an acousticset of 13 songs from their previous five albums. The musical lineup has no major changes, not counting the aid of guitarist Scott Olson.A.I.C gives a great effort on what feels like "undiscovered territory", having never fully released an all-acoustic album, although coming close on "Jar Of Flys". For the most part, the album has a darker, more traditional Alice In Chains feel to it, with the exception of songs like: Got Me Wrong, Would? and No Excuses. While on the other hand, songs like: Rooster, Down In A Hole, and Over Now, bring out the truly depressing part of A.I.C's musical arsenal. Acoustically Alice In Chains sound excellent. So if you like A.I.C "plugged", but you also like acoustics I highly recommend getting this album. Rating (1-5): ***
