Less Than Jake
Losing Streak (Capitol Records)

By: Alex Beron

Losing Streak is the 3rd full length album from the Florida-based Ska/Punk band Less Than Jake. LTJ has released a variety of 7"'s and songs on various compilations, and now they are taking their act to a new level, with the help of Capitol Records. Less Than Jake is a six member group that are obsessed with those little sugar-filled candies; Pez. The band members are Jessica: Alto Sax, Buddy "Goldfinger": Trombone, Derron: Baritone and Tenor Sax, Vinnie: Drums, Lyrics, and PEZ, Chris: Vocals and Guitar, and Roger: Bass and Vocals.

This 16-track album is definitely a must-have. From the first time you hear it, you'll be hooked. The songs have a certain catchiness to them. The first single of the album, "Automatic," has introduced a lot of people who have otherwise have not heard of LTJ, to the band, due to a good amount of air play. Songs like "Johnny Quest Thinks We're Sellouts," "Jen Doesn't Like Me Anymore," and "Dopeman" will make you fall in love with this album. While other tunes like "9th and Pine," "Just Like Frank," and "Lockdown" will have you questioning your theories on life and human nature. Less Than Jake has definitely come up with a hit on this one. So if your a fan of Ska or Punk and don't own this album, go get it!
