Subincision
Subincision (Beach Recordings)

By: Emmanuel Goldstein

Subincision is a band who is definitely not trying to establish mainstream appreciation. The band preeches their contempt towards children ("Alien Head Babies"), stupid people ("You Get The Shot"), farmers ("Backwoods Incest Farm"), and thier own veterinarion ("Anti-Bark Device"). This CD is filled with hooks, both musically and vocally. The poppy-toned vocals sound like they are being sung in an earthquake with their up-and-down rolling effect. Although this band proclaims their music to be 'old-school punk', it is more of a hard-melodic basic guitar sound that can get poppy at times, but at other times can have quite melodic guitar progressions. Other songs on here can get quite humorous such as "12 pack girlfriend" (pretty self-explanatory), and "Trashman" (about how people get paid so much just for picking up trash). "Army Life" takes those army chants you used to hear on the playground in 5th grade and puts it to a little music. If nothing else, I can classify this CD as 'enjoyable'.
