ABOMINANT Never Truly Dead (MCD) By: Jeb Branin
This EP is actually a re-release of the second ABOMINANT demo from 1994.So all this material predates the music found on ABOMINANT's masterful "Unspeakable Horrors" CD which was one of the best death metal albums of1996. Although this EP is not quite as essential as the full length, it is still a powerful collection or raw, punishing underground metal. The vocals of Mike Barnes are twisted and freakish with the blood curdling intensity that only the finest growlers can manage. The music is both technical and brutally heavy. Whether they open the throttle and flash along or whether they are crawling through a sludgy riff, the music is always destructive and massive. The title track is my favorite cut with its combination of styles and epileptic speed changes. There are only a thousand of these made so you'll need to act quick to snag one. (Wild Rags2207 W.
