Walk Like A Man 7" B/W Mouthful of the Past ('66)(Empty Records)

Highly melodic, irresistible power-pop courtesy of Portland, Oregon's Jr. High is what this 7" is all about. Featuring "Walk Like A Man," a track not found on their newly released, full-length/debut CD (see review in this issue), this song is reason enough to NEED this 7". Starting off with some nice percussion work that gets your hips shaking, hooky guitars are soon sprinkled in, before the vocals come in and everything softens a bit. Soon the song blasts into another hook (followed by hook after hook), and if you weren't already in deep, you'll find yourself heavily emerged in the song. Powerful enough to move your body, light enough to give you enough room to relax, and emotional enough to make you think, this song covers everyone's musical needs. The only thing left is to just bounce around, singing along while you make sure nobody's looking at what a fool you're making of yourself. But hey, it's all in the name of fun. Backed with an early version of the album track "Today Is The Day," this version goes by the name of "Mouthful Of The Past ('66)." A bit raw compared to the album version, "Mouthful Of The Past" packs a tremendous punch, as well as hooks, topping this single off nicely.Either to introduce yourself to Jr. High, or to add to your new purchase of their full-length CD KILLER OF FRIENDSHIPS, this 7" is one that won't leave your record player for quite some time.
