Killengod (Fear No God) Into The Ancient Moon (Warhead Records) By: Jeb Branin
This is my second exposure to this band and I'm more than a little disappointed. Although their "Transcendual Consciousness" disc was far from perfect it did highlight a promising young death metal band whose musical might was enhanced by their attempts at intellectualizing their anti- organized religion themes. This follow up, and debut full length, doesn't do a single thing new with the sound of the band an in many ways is a step backwards. Hindered by a slightly murky production and unimaginative song writing KILLENGOD fail to establish a musical presence anywhere on this album. It is solid death metal with touches of black thrown in and will appeal to fans of the genre who aren't looking for anything new or innovative, but for people like me who expected great things from the band based on their track record, this is a bit dull.
