Altimeter Bantyman b/w Where You Go [7" single] (Upbeat Productions) By: Gary "Pig" Gold
When not dial-tweekin' in his secret laboratory deep within Manhattan's Building of Music, studio w?nderkind Al Houghton can often be found on the scarier side of the control room glass, leading his very own avant-funk combo Altimeter to new and hitherto-unscaled-by-white-guys heights of musical depravity. This latest 45 offers two more examples of the special kind of sound this fearless four-piece is fast becoming known and very well respected for, and while the multitude of melodic twists and rhythmic turns may very well trip up the more choreographically-challenged amongst us, the songs themselves never fail to remain thoroughly, utterly, and sometimes defiantly f-u-n. In the word of the band themselves, "How, Hi Are You?"
